Evaluation and impact showcase: CLIC Sargent

Evaluation and impact showcase: CLIC Sargent

One of the things I like most about evaluations is talking to beneficiaries.  Its how you really begin to understand what impact a service has on a person, and their stories stay with me long after the evaluation has ended. With CLIC Sargent, I worked with an associate, Lori Streich, to…

A gift for good

A gift for good

I have enough stuff. I think maybe you have enough stuff. Your friends and family, maybe, have enough stuff. On #GivingTuesday I’d like to champion the idea this Christmas, of saying ‘I have enough stuff’, so rather than giving me another candle or tub of body butter, I’m forfeiting most…

Can communicating impact save fundraising’s bacon?

Can communicating impact save fundraising’s bacon?

Fundraising. Oh boy, it’s having a rough time of it, reputation wise.  Let’s move away from the rights and wrongs about various fundraising practices and look at what can be done to salvage reputation amongst our supporters. SHOW THEM THE DIFFERENCE THEIR MONEY MAKES! I checked through my emails last month…

  • Working with Emma Insley as both a CEO and a consultant was a real pleasure. Principled, hard working, great fun and highly productive, she always helped us achieve far more than we ever thought we could.

Andrew McKnight, Chair of Get Connected
  • Emma Insley’s evaulation report, infographic and prezi were all extremely well received, demonstrated BOST’s professionalism, and helped very clearly to show the value of the project. The infographic in particular was welcomed and very useful to give a snapshot of the value of the project and open up discussion about the benefits of urban food growing.

  • Emma Insley’s work is delivered on time, on budget and to a very high standard. Emma can pick things up quickly and works thoroughly to get results …  She is also a pleasure to work with, honest and trustworthy with a sense of humour.  I would recommend Emma Insley as a consultant who delivers.

Una Barry MBE, Deputy Chief Executive, Depaul UK
  • Emma Insley evaluated a large voluntary sector capacity building project in Tower Hamlets. Emma quickly grasped the complex project, created a robust approach to the evaluation and executed it without a hitch. She was thorough without being regimented and affable whilst attentive to detail.

Toks Majek-Akisanya, Chief Executive at CIDA (Cultural Industries Development Agency)
  • Emma’s report got to the heart of the matter, with some particularly apposite recommendations. What added value also was an additional spread of recommendations broader than her brief, which was unexpected. Emma met the requirement in spades and added further benefit; the Trust was delighted with her engagement.

Nick Kurth, Chair of Ulysses Trust
  • I love it [the evaluation report]. I use it all the time. Just wanted to drop you to message to say how fantastic I think it is and how helpful it is on a fundraising level, its really clear and easy to read. I often translate things before sending them onto funders but I just send the Staying Safe report straight out :-)

    Laura Warner, Fundraiser, Depaul UK
  • Before working with Emma it was an ongoing challenge to resist the pressures to take on new, very often unfunded, work.  Emma’s Needs Assessment report provided us with a clear evidence base and rationale for the future direction of the charity.  She investigated and distilled complex information into key priorities and recommendations that have been accepted across the organisation.  Now we think in ‘straight lines’ and can focus on delivering the strategy

Paul Ely, CEO, Bankside Open Spaces Trust
  • Emma raised £50,000 from one bid to Veolia Trust – we’re now about to start construction on a new skatepark in Gosport thanks to Emma’s fundraising support.  Emma was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her services.

Stevyn Ricketts DMS, Head of Streetscene, Gosport Borough Council
  • The quality of Emma Insley’s professionalism, insight and communications was truly exceptional throughout.

    Christoph Warrack, Open Cinema
  • Emma’s work on our application to Heritage Lottery Fund and other fundraising bids was invaluable; we would have struggled without her help.  She is a good critical friend, and I highly recommend Emma’s services.

Sue Morgan, CEO, Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust
  • Emma Insley brings passion and enthusiasm to her work but this is matched by professionalism and clear thinking. She is completely reliable and I would have no hesitation in using her services again.

Paul Marriott, Chief Executive of Depaul UK
  • Aided by Emma Insley’s calm and direct approach, I now have a clear set of goals and timeline objectives, enabled by her wonderfully patient tuition on everything relevant, from strategy and legislation, to marketing and fundraising.

David Wheeler, Psychotherapist, David Wheeler Therapy
  • Emma Insley is inspirational! She left no stone unturned to produce a Fundraising Report for the Trustees of Rett UK which was comprehensive, articulate and highly practical. It was a pleasure to work with a charity consultant who has a such a wealth of experience and who is so positive and helpful. Thank you Emma!

    Lorna Jaffa, Chair, Rett UK
  • I’m very happy to recommend Emma Insley. Very professional, thorough and dependable.

Jane Powell, Campaign Against Living Miserably
  • Emma Insley drove a programme of regular meetings and networking opportunities for our members (Youth Helplines).  Emma facilitated monitoring and evaluation, knowledge sharing and partnership working. Her work is reliable, of a high standard and valued by members, as evidence by their strong engagement and motivation.

Peter Glenday, Head of Business Development, The Helplines Partnership
  • The training was really helpful.  I thought I already knew enough about meetings but I actually learnt loads.  Thank you!

Sarah Mangan, Finance Manager, Bankside Open Spaces Trust
  • We were delighted to work with Emma and Carla [the Charity Collective] to design our fundraising strategy and start making applications for funding. Our relationship was never just a ‘bolt on’ – they were really keen to get an understanding of the overall strategy for the project, and offered helpful insight in a number of different unexpected areas. As we were complete novices to the world of Fundraising, Emma and Carla were particularly helpful in the way they presented constructive challenge and feedback to our plans. Throughout the relationship it was a real partnership, and one which we have valued immensely.

James Townsend, Director, The Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership
  • Emma is a hardworking tenacious professional, with the ability to tackle organisational change and internal challenges. Her leadership and project management skills are also highly effective. She is a pleasure to work alongside and I highly recommend her.
